Um Boeing 747-400, registro N429MC, da empresa Atlas Air, perdeu a carenagem do flap quando se aproximava para pouso na pista 09 do aeroporto de Miami, Flórida (USA) a aproximadamente 3mn da cabeceira da pista e a 1000 pés de altitude.

A aeronave fazia voo cargueiro no trajeto Santiago do Chile - Miami, quando a parte que se soltou do avião, que mede cerca de 5.5 metros, caiu no estacionamento do Miami International Mall. O avião prosseguiu para o pouso onde aterrissou sem maiores consequencias.

No momento do incidente o estacionamento não estava ocupado, o que contribuiu para que não houvessem danos materiais ou feridos em terra.

A agência de notícias "Kyodo" informou que a Japan Airlines (JAL), cortará cerca de 15.600 empregos, 30% do quadro de pessoal, para enfrentar suas dívidas, segundo a agência encarregada do plano de resgate divulgado hoje. As obrigações e dívidas excedem os ativos da companhia aérea em 860 bilhões de Ienes, situação que a obrigará a se declarar em quebra e permitirá dilatar ou evitar o pagamento de até 730 bilhões de Ienes em dívidas.

An Air Berlin Boeing 737-800, registration D-ABKF performing flight AB-2450 from Dortmund (Germany) to Las Palmas,CI (Spain) with 165 passengers, rejected takeoff from Dortmund's runway 06 in snowfall and came to a stop on soft ground. No injuries occured, the passengers disembarked via rear stairs.

The company said, that the airplane came to a stop on a downslope making it appear like a collapsed nose gear, the airplane however did not receive any substantial damage and is expected to be back in service during the day after being removed from the soft ground. The takeoff was rejected because of an indication of a technical malfunction.
